Biological Fertilizers

Biological fertilizer (biofertilizer) refers to natural products that contain living  microorganisms which improve soil fertility and plant growth by increasing the  availability of nutrients.

Biofertilizers work by:

    •    Fixing atmospheric nitrogen

    •    Solubilizing phosphorus and potassium

    •    Improving root growth and nutrient uptake

    •    Enhancing soil microbial activity and health.

Soybeans

Biological fertilizers enhance the natural relationship between soybeans and  beneficial soil microbes, improving nitrogen fixation and nutrient availability  throughout the growing season. By strengthening root nodulation and increasing  microbial activity in the rhizosphere, biologicals help soybeans access nitrogen,  phosphorus, and micronutrients more efficiently—supporting uniform emergence,  healthier plants, and improved pod set.

For soybean growers, biological fertilizers help solve the challenge of inconsistent  nodulation, early-season stress, and declining soil biology, especially in rotated or  stressed fields. The result is stronger root systems, better nutrient efficiency,  improved stress tolerance during dry or cool conditions, and more consistent yield,  often while reducing the need for additional synthetic inputs.

Corn

In corn production, biological fertilizers activate soil biology to improve nutrient  uptake, especially nitrogen and phosphorus, during critical early-season growth  stages. Beneficial microbes stimulate root mass development, improve nutrient

solubility, and increase overall plant vigor—helping corn establish faster and  maintain stronger growth through pollination and grain fill.

Corn farmers benefit by addressing the problem of nutrient tie-up, early-season  nutrient loss, and rising fertilizer costs. Biological fertilizers improve fertilizer  efficiency, reduce leaching, and help corn plants better withstand heat and moisture  stress—leading to healthier stands, stronger stalks, and more reliable yield potential.

Cotton

Biological fertilizers support cotton by enhancing root development, nutrient uptake,  and plant resilience throughout the season. By improving soil microbial diversity and  nutrient cycling, biologicals help cotton manage early-season vigor without excessive  vegetative growth, while supporting balanced nutrient availability during bloom and  boll development.

For cotton growers, biological fertilizers help solve issues related to root stress,  nutrient imbalance, and environmental pressure. The benefits include improved root  health, better nutrient efficiency, increased stress tolerance, and more uniform boll  set—supporting stronger fiber development, improved yield consistency, and  healthier soils for long-term cotton production.

Tissue Sampling

With in-season tissue testing, SoutheastAg helps farmers fine-tune fertility  programs to maximize return on input investment. Tissue samples allow  growers to evaluate the effectiveness of biological products, starter fertilizers,  and overall fertility strategies—making precise adjustments when crops can  still respond. The result is improved nutrient efficiency, stronger plant health,  more consistent yields, and data-driven decisions that protect both  productivity and profitability throughout the season.

Farm Succession Plan

Farming families pour generations of hard work into their land, yet many delay  planning for leadership transition because the conversations feel uncomfortable or  overwhelming. Without a clear farm succession plan, families risk confusion,  conflict, unexpected taxes, key man/woman protection, and even the forced sale of  land and equipment. When transitions happen suddenly, decisions are often rushed,  emotions run high, and the future of the operation can be put at risk—despite  decades of sacrifice and stewardship.

SoutheastAg helps farm families move from uncertainty to confidence by supporting  clear, thoughtful succession planning. A well-structured plan protects the farm by  structuring individualized trusts, defines leadership roles, and creates alignment  across generations—allowing the operation to continue smoothly without disrupting  relationships or productivity. With intentional planning, families gain peace of mind  knowing the farm’s legacy, values, and financial stability are preserved for the next  generation.

Indicate on the contact form that you would like to have a conversation about a  farm succession plan, a farm family trust, and let’s talk.

Succession Planning for Agricultural Estates

Succession planning for agricultural estates helps farming families protect their  land, operation, and legacy while ensuring a smooth transition to the next  generation. Through a structured business review, SoutheastAg—working alongside  Augustar—helps identify financial risks, clarify leadership transitions, and align  long-term goals. The result is peace of mind, reduced uncertainty, and a clear plan  that keeps the farm intact and productive for future generations.

What to Expect in a Farm Business Review

A farm business review provides a clear, practical evaluation of your operation  beyond crop production alone. SoutheastAg and Augustar work with farm families  to review cash flow, debt structure, risk exposure, and succession readiness— helping uncover gaps that could threaten long-term stability if left unaddressed. This  process brings clarity around ownership, decision-making, and financial resilience  so families can plan proactively instead of reacting under pressure.

The review is confidential, non-disruptive, and designed to strengthen—not change —the way you farm. By aligning risk management, financial planning, and  succession strategy, families gain confidence knowing their operation is prepared  for retirement, transition, or unexpected life events.

A Farm Business Review Helps You:

• Identify financial and operational risks

• Prepare for leadership and ownership transition

• Protect land from forced sale or tax pressure

• Improve decision-making with clear financial insight

Clarity for Your Finances. Confidence for Your Future.

Personal Financial Reviews for Farm Families, Business Owners & Retirees

Life changes, but financial plans are often left untouched. For farm families,  business owners, and retirees, that gap can create unnecessary risk, confusion, and  stress. A personal financial review brings everything into focus—so you can clearly  see where you are today, what’s protected, and what needs attention to support the  life you’re building.

Gain clarity. Reduce risk.

Move forward with confidence.

Keep More of What You Earn—Without Changing How You Spend

Everyday Savings Made Simple for Farm Families, Business Owners & Retirees

Rising everyday expenses quietly drain cash flow and limit financial progress.  Groceries, travel, healthcare, utilities, and lifestyle costs add up fast—often without  a clear way to offset them. StarFish Perks helps turn everyday spending into  intentional savings, creating immediate financial breathing room without asking you  to sacrifice your lifestyle.

Many people feel stuck financially—not because they aren’t working hard, but  because their money doesn’t go as far as it used to. For farm families managing  seasonal income, business owners balancing cash flow, and retirees living on fixed  budgets, rising costs can quietly erode confidence and peace of mind. Without a  practical system to reduce expenses, financial stress becomes the norm rather than  the exception.

StarFish Perks solves this problem by helping people save money on purchases  they already make. The program provides access to exclusive discounts and cost saving benefits that lower everyday expenses and improve cash flow immediately.  By keeping more money in your pocket each month, StarFish Perks helps  participants reduce financial pressure, increase flexibility, and redirect savings  toward debt reduction, future planning, or simply enjoying life with greater  confidence.

StarFish Perks is ideal for:

• Farm Families looking to manage household costs alongside seasonal  income

• Business Owners seeking better cash flow without cutting lifestyle spending

• Retirees who want predictable savings and financial stability

About Southeast AG

SoutheastAg is a partnership between Danny and Lucia Claborn. Both of us were raised on farms—just in very different parts of the United States. Danny grew up on a cotton and cattle farm in north Alabama, while Lucia was raised on a cattle ranch in southeastern Oregon. Although we shared agricultural roots, our paths after high school were quite different.

After college, Danny began his career working at a local bank. Lucia, after graduating high school, joined the U.S. Army. Four years later, Danny left the bank to work for the local farmers’ cooperative, while Lucia remained in the military and attended Officer Training School.

Several years later, our paths crossed unexpectedly in a restaurant and bar in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Danny asked Lucia to dance, and through conversation they quickly discovered how much they had in common. It didn’t take long for them to realize they were meant to be together. Danny and Lucia met in June of 1991 and were married that December.

At the time, Danny was managing the local cooperative, selling seed, feed, fertilizer, and crop protection products. Lucia continued serving in the Army National Guard and later transferred to a transportation unit in Alabama. We settled in north Alabama and raised four children.

Service has always been central to our lives. Danny’s goal was to serve local north Alabama farmers, and in 2012 we established SoutheastAg, LLC with the mission of serving farmers across Alabama and the greater Southeast. We began by contract-selling corn and soybean seed and occasionally offering biological products.

Through much prayer and thoughtful discussion, we decided to expand our offerings to include affordable biological products and farm financial services. Our customers are not just farmers—they are business owners operating in an unforgiving market that does not reward effort alone. We do not want to see our customers and friends become the generation that loses the farm. Our goal is to help protect what they have worked so hard to build, so it can be passed on to their heirs for generations to come.
